The Gregory Wing Memorial Scholarship This fund was established to help assist with the cost of providing an education to our students. Gregory Wing attended and graduated from Saint Charles School. He was a devoted Catholic and had many Christian friends of all ages. He died in the summer of 2002. His parents, who established this fund, are parishioners of St. Charles Catholic Church. The namesake of the Gregory Wing Memorial Scholarship Fund used his Christian training from Saint Charles School as a basis to live his life. Putting his life in danger while saving another, he called upon God for strength and forgiveness before he acted. He later said, “I don’t consider myself a hero. I just did what was needed to be done.” Kindergarten through Seventh grades students, who have been members of St. Charles Parish for at least one year, or have attended St. Charles School for at least one year, are eligible to apply. The amounts and number of awards are announced annually. The Monroe County Community Foundation serves as a leader in administering this scholarship.
